#CatholicHospitals Article in today’s Seattle Times re Peace Health arrangement with the University of Washington, “Ties between UW, PeaceHealth worry medical trainees, grad students” voices a concern we all should have. Peace Health has a history of avoiding the questions. They obfuscate with non sequiters like saying in regards to contraception, “we support the patient-physician relationship”. That doesn’t answer the question. Are the doctors allowed to prescribe (and in the case of a teaching institution) are they taught the pharmacology and best practices of contraceptive therapy? Yes or no. And what’s this “full range of medical services appropriate to the rotation” And who decides what is full range and what is appropriate? Our tax-supported state university has no business forming any arrangement with Peace Health.
